Complementary support, not a cure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Autism spectrum disorder is a complex neurological condition that can present challenges in the areas of social relationships, communication and sensory processing as well. In recent years mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT) has come into focus as a possible complementary method \u2013 alongside the usual developmental programmes and medical care, not instead of them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

It is important to be clear: mHBOT does not cure autism, and it does not replace medical care or developmental and therapeutic programmes.<\/strong> The results of the relevant research are mixed, so the treatment should in every case only be considered as a complement, in consultation with the treating physician.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What does the research say?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The role of mHBOT in autism has been analysed in several studies, but the results are mixed: some described favourable changes, other studies found no clear difference. On the basis of our current knowledge the method is experimental and complementary in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
